Westford

It split off from Chelmsford in 1739, changing its name from West Chelmsford. While Westford it was not part of Paul Revere’s famous ride, Westford Academy was once attended by Revere’s son, and two of Revere’s metalworks are located in the city. Later, Westford became a suburb for Lowell mill workers. Modern Westford is home to technology companies along the route 128 corridor. Westford citizens use the Ayer District Court to the west in Ayer, which is the court for multiple communities including Groton and Boxborough.
