Wakefield

Wakefield is one of three municipalities north of Boston that were originally part of the town of Reading. In fact, Wakefield was originally incorporated as Reading, but renamed in 1868 in honor of Cyrus Wakefield, a furniture manufacturer who donated part of his fortune and land to build a new town hall. Its town commons are on the shores of Lake Quannapowitt, which offers opportunities for water sports and recreation as well as a pleasant place for town events like the Fourth of July celebration. Like many of the cities along the Route 128 corridor, Wakefield has local white-collar employers, but is also convenient to Boston, making it a good choice for Boston workers who want to live outside the city. Wakefield is one of the four towns served by the Malden District Court to the south at 89 Summer Street in Malden.

Criminal defense attorney Stephen Neyman represents people from Wakefield and throughout greater Boston who are facing criminal charges. Our office routinely represents people in Malden District Court, a busy and diverse court that hears a variety of crimes. In the past, we’ve helped clients defend themselves from charges of sexual assault and other sex crimes, all types of narcotics charges, violent crimes like battery and assault, burglary, robbery and more. We also represent clients at clerk’s hearings, which are pre-trial hearings intended to help the court decide whether to pursue criminal charges against a defendant. This presents a good opportunity to stop charges before they are filed, and our attorneys strongly prefer to get involved early enough to be able to represent you there.

With more than 20 years of experience in Massachusetts criminal defense law, attorney Stephen Neyman understands that clients are often going through a difficult time when they come to a defense lawyer. Being charged with a crime means facing possible jail or prison time, probation, steep fines and fees, and consequences for your job, your loved ones and your freedom. Especially if it is your first brush with the criminal justice system, you may not know what to expect, which makes many defendants anxious and upset. The Law Office of Stephen Neyman can help. Based on our legal experience and expertise, our office can tell you what to expect and explain all of the possible outcomes of your own individual case. Of course, we also aggressively defend criminal charges, helping our clients get not-guilty verdicts or get a fair and minimally disruptive penalty.
